Meet our team

Great care starts with great carers

At Spire Assist, our mission is to ensure that as many children as possible have a happy childhood and a fulfilling journey — leading to a beautiful outcome later in life. Everything else follows from the people we choose and how we look after them.

Our ethos

Why we invest so much in our people

We're passionate about children, and we aim to provide the highest levels of care — the kind that gives young people real foundations for adulthood. Great care can only be provided by great carers, which is why we invest so heavily in our staff.

Every employee is rigorously vetted prior to assignments. All carers undergo extensive training, and are dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of care. Most importantly, each individual at Spire Assist shares the same commitment: making children's lives better.

We are currently in the process of applying to the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and hope to hold CQC accreditation in the very near future.

Leadership

The people setting the standard

Uzair Mohiuddin Assoc. CIPD

Managing Director

Uzair's career began in human resources management before consultancy work with children's social services opened his eyes to inconsistencies in care provision. Rather than accept them, he obtained the relevant qualifications to re-establish care foundations from the ground up — building support for young people leaving care, coaching and training staff for local authorities, and expanding Spire Assist into supported accommodation.

"My team and I are committed to making the lives of children better and equipping them with the tools to overcome the challenges and obstacles they face, in a positive and productive way."

Jane Westwood

Director of Operations

Jane spent a decade as a social worker before establishing an employability and coaching centre for young adults and going on to manage a healthcare agency. Her strengths — communication, management, and helping people in care genuinely improve their lives — run through Spire Assist's day-to-day operations. She lives by a simple Mother Teresa principle: "It is not how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing."

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring — all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
What others say

In their words, not ours

Feedback from local authority managers — and from the young people themselves, which we treasure most.

"Mushy is a proactive manager of the service; he is reliable and responds to our staffing needs quickly and flexibly. Mushy has a friendly approach and we enjoy having a positive working relationship with him."

Management, Local Authority

"Uzair has a calm and caring nature and understands trauma and the need for attachment, and how this can impact on behaviours. He is reliable, flexible and is regarded as a safe pair of hands for home managers."

Management, Local Authority

"Rahim interacts with the young people very well. He has a great sense of humour and is very caring. Rahim is able to build trusting relationships with the young people and they speak freely with him."

Management, Local Authority

"Lloyd is great, he is funny and good to talk to. Lloyd is strict though; he makes us go to bed at 10pm! Lloyd keeps us all safe at night time."

Written by a young person

"Jarrod is very nice and can have a laugh with us. He has a good sense of humour. He's a good cook, especially when he makes pancakes. He respects us and we respect him."

Written by a young person

These aren't marketing quotes — they're the everyday relationships our team builds: trusted by managers, and genuinely liked by the young people they keep safe.
