Careers at Spire Assist

Work that actually matters, with a team that actually cares

Every shift you work changes a young person's day — sometimes their life. If you're patient, resilient and genuinely care about children and young people, we'd love to hear from you.

Why Spire Assist

We invest in carers, because carers are the care

Great care can only be provided by great carers — so we treat our people accordingly. That means extensive training before your first assignment and ongoing development after it, managers who answer the phone, and shifts that work around your life rather than against it.

  • Full training provided — safe handling of medication, first aid at work, Team Teach positive behaviour, safeguarding and more.
  • Real progression — support towards Level 3 and beyond, with leadership pathways for those who want them.
  • Shift flexibility — days, nights, weekends, bank holidays; full-time, part-time and bank arrangements.
  • A supportive team — you're never left to sink or swim on a difficult placement.

Roles we recruit for

Where you could fit in

Support Worker

Day-to-day care and encouragement for children and young people in residential settings — from meals and school runs to activities, appointments and being a steady presence.

Residential Practitioner

A deeper role in the home: implementing care plans, contributing to risk assessments and records, and modelling the therapeutic approach our reputation is built on.

Waking Nights

Keeping young people safe and settled through the night — a calm, reliable presence when it's needed most. Ideal if you're at your best after dark.

Bank & Relief

Pick up shifts that suit your availability — evenings, weekends, holiday cover. Perfect alongside study, family life or another role.

What we ask of you

  • Genuine commitment to making children's lives better
  • Experience of working with children or young people (paid or voluntary)
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and full vetting
  • A Level 3 qualification in childcare / health & social care, or willingness to work towards one
  • Flexibility for shifts including some unsociable hours
  • Patience, resilience and a sense of humour — you'll need all three
